What is Bandwidth?
Posted in emarketing, search engine optimisation, web hosting, website design on 07/03/2010 08:35 am by admin“Bandwidth” – A term used by web hosting companies, and Internet Service Providers, to describe how much data (information) can pass from the server your website is hosted on to people visiting your web site. This includes the files (images, documents, programming files) that make up your website as well as any data downloaded from databases or media files ie. video, audio etc….
If you have a small basic website, bandwidth this will not be an issue.
If you have a full database eCommerce driven website, or you have, or will be, running an e-marketing campaign, you will need a lot of bandwidth to cope with incoming visitors to your web site.
If your bandwidth is too small, your website will crash. Always check your website statistics to see the website activity and how much bandwidth is being used.
