What is Bandwidth?

“Bandwidth” – A term used by web hosting companies, and Internet Service Providers, to describe how much data (information) can pass from the server your website is hosted on to people visiting your web site. This includes the files (images, documents, programming files) that make up your website as well as any data downloaded from databases or media files ie. video, audio etc….

If you have a small basic website, bandwidth this will not be an issue.

If you have a full database eCommerce driven website, or you have, or will be, running an e-marketing campaign, you will need a lot of bandwidth to cope with incoming visitors to your web site.

If your bandwidth is too small, your website will crash. Always check your website statistics to see the website activity and how much bandwidth is being used.

Bring Down Microsoft Internet Explorer 6

As many web designers and developers our there are aware, Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 is now becoming a thorn to the future developments of the web.

Public sector insists on keeping IE6 instead of upgrading to IE8, as IE6 is seen to be more secure and stable; which is actually incorrect.

IE6 has probably more holes than you think as Microsoft no longer support this version.

This isn’t about being anti-Microsoft, it’s about making sure that we encourage people to move to modern browsers such as IE8, Firefox, Chrome, Safari or Opera.

Why use a standard home page design?

Our client at Hunt4Accountants were wanting a website that allowed quick and easy access to their service and with out hassle or even a click of a mouse.

A home page normally has a piece of welcome text, links to sections and some nice graphic to help break up the page and to make it look interesting.

Hunt4Accountants went the complete opposite and put on an online form immediately on the home page.
